History
Baby Steps grew out of the vision of Children First! an initiative of the Blandin Foundation to strengthen families. The Children First! research found that many services were available in the area for families and children, but these services were being underutilized. The Children First! Strengthening Action Families Team, along with members of the community wanted to develop an innovative approach that would motivate families to use already existing services. The Blandin Foundation launched this unique program in 2001.
The program is currently a non-profit organization under the Community Education Program of Independent School District 318 which serves as its fiscal agent.
